The context and the challenges

In the midst of a recovery, the nuclear sector is positioning itself at the heart of the challenges of the energy transition. The French nuclear industry, and more specifically in OccitanieThis represents a strategic and rapidly expanding sector, driven by the need for decarbonized energy and the modernization of the existing fleet. Key challenges include the maintenance and extension of the lifespan of current power plants, the development of the EPR2 and SMRs (small modular reactors), as well as waste management and decommissioning.
These challenges present significant opportunities for industrial companies: manufacturing high-precision components, robotics for maintenance in challenging environments, specialized engineering, materials processing, cybersecurity, and innovative solutions for the fuel cycle. Occitanie, with its research ecosystem and competitiveness clusters, offers an environment conducive to innovation and partnerships.
Diversification towards nuclear power is today a credible, structuring and highly regulated path for industrialists in France, provided they understand the real opportunities, entry requirements and risks.
